Right now, you might be thinking; "VIPER SMARTSTART has always worked with Starter-Kill, so what's the big deal?" Well, that's true when you are adding it on to a security system that has a Starter-Kill feature, like a 3108V, 5908V, DS4 etc., but that’s not always the case.
The VSM550 / DSM550 can also be installed as a standalone device (meaning not paired with an aftermarket alarm or remote start). Standalone (sometimes referred to as Analog Mode) is typically used in GPS tracking only, or for basic vehicle entry installs. When the device is configured this way, Starter-Kill is not supported... That is, until now!  Our dealers have been asking for this, and we listened! 

This feature is being added to all VSM/DSM550 units via an OTA (over-the-air) update. That means that those units already in your store or installed in a vehicle will have this functionality available!
